About BallisticsCalculator.io

A free ballistics calculator built by a software engineer and long-range shooter, for the shooting community.

Who I Am

I'm Eric, a software engineer and long-range shooting enthusiast. I built BallisticsCalculator.io because I wanted a free, no-nonsense tool that I could trust at the range. So I did what engineers do—I built one myself, grounded in established ballistic models and cross-validated against JBM Ballistics to make sure the math checks out.

Outside of coding and shooting, I spend time with my family, exploring the outdoors through hiking, fishing, and camping, and relaxing with a good movie.

My Approach

I believe in transparency. The calculator is built on the GNU Exterior Ballistics Library, a proven foundation that I've enhanced with MIL support, energy calculations, and a cleaner interface. I've documented exactly how the math works, what assumptions are made, and where the limitations are.

No black boxes. If you want to know how your drop and windage numbers are calculated, you can read the methodology.

Why Free?

Good ballistics data shouldn't be locked behind a paywall or buried in ads. I built this as a resource for the shooting community—free to use and runs on any device.

Whether you're working up a new load, planning a hunt, or just geeking out over trajectory curves, I hope this tool helps you get on target.
