Changelog

Track updates and improvements to the Ballistics Calculator.

  • UpdatedYou can now select and copy text anywhere on the site. Highlight the results table and paste it into a spreadsheet — the columns land in the right cells, so there's no need to screenshot it
  • UpdatedUpdated our privacy policy. We now measure which parts of the calculator actually get used, so the parts that matter can be improved — what you type is masked and never recorded, and turning on Do Not Track in your browser opts you out completely
  • UpdatedRebuilt the trajectory engine on an open-source solver that is verified against reference ballistics software. Drop and drift shift slightly at normal hunting distances, and more at long range, in cold or hot air, and with G7 bullets. If you printed a dope card before today, generate it again — the methodology page explains how the numbers are checked
  • NewPressure Type in the calculator: choose Barometric for the number a weather app or report gives, which is corrected to sea level, or Station for what a Kestrel reads where you stand. At altitude, the wrong one is worth several MOA at long range
  • UpdatedUphill and downhill tables now land on the exact distances a rangefinder reads — 100, 200, 300 and so on — instead of slightly short of them
  • UpdatedRemoved G3 and G4 from the drag model list. No published drag data exists for them, and they produced misleading numbers
  • UpdatedRewrote the methodology page: how the solver works, the standard atmosphere it uses, barometric versus station pressure, and how the results are verified

  • NewDual-caliber comparison mode — add a second caliber in the calculator to overlay both trajectories on one chart and view side-by-side ballistics data in the table
  • NewShareable calculations — the calculator now generates bookmarkable URLs so you can save or share a specific calculation
  • NewAdded caliber comparison pages with computed ballistics data: 308 Win vs 6.5 CM, 6.5 CM vs 6.5 PRC, 308 Win vs 223 Rem
  • NewAdded 6.5 PRC caliber page with ballistics data and load presets
  • UpdatedCaliber pages now include load presets that link directly to the calculator with real ballistic data pre-filled
  • UpdatedCaliber and comparison ballistics tables now include 100–1000 yard data in 100-yard increments, with columns reordered for easier reading (Drop, MOA, Velocity, Energy)
  • NewAdded Methodology page documenting the point-mass trajectory model, drag functions, and validation process
